Cookies

Four things get stored on your device by this site, at most. Two are needed for it to behave the way you asked it to; two are Google Analytics, and those only exist if you said yes. All four are below, by name.

Your choice

You have not answered yet, so analytics are off. No answer means no — the site does not read one into your silence.

What a cookie is, here

A cookie is a small file a site asks your browser to keep and send back on the next request. Local storage does much the same job without the sending — the data stays on your device and is only read by the page itself.

The distinction matters to engineers and to nobody else, so this site does not lean on it. Both are storage on your machine, both are listed below, and both are treated the same way.

Essential

These do not ask, and the bar for putting something in this group is deliberately high: the site cannot do the thing you just asked it to do without it. All three qualify — each is written as the direct result of something you clicked, neither leaves this domain, and neither identifies you.

Analytics — only if you say yes

Google Analytics 4, property G-9WNPQZQBC9, tells me which pages are worth keeping and which are not read at all. It is genuinely useful and genuinely optional, and the tag is not loaded into the page until you accept — decline, and your browser never contacts Google.

Who handles it, where it goes and how long it is kept are in the privacy policy.

What is not here

No advertising cookies. No tracking pixels, no social widgets, no embedded video that phones home, no fingerprinting, nothing sold to anyone. If that ever changes, this page changes first and the question is asked again — an answer about one thing is not stretched to cover a new one.

Your browser can overrule all of this

Every browser can block or delete cookies and site data on its own, in Settings under Privacy. Doing that also clears the record of your choice here, so the banner will come back — that is the record being deleted along with everything else, not the choice being ignored.

Blocking the essential three costs you nothing but convenience: the theme falls back to whatever your operating system prefers, the flashcards forget what you have reviewed, and the site keeps working.
